Canada is coming apart.

Canada is coming apart. The Laurentian elites don’t see it yet, but Alberta separatism is no longer a fringe idea—it is fast becoming the defining force in Alberta politics. Mark Carney and Pierre Poilievre may try to dismiss it, but they are ignoring a rising tide of discontent that will reshape the political landscape. Their denial won’t stop what’s coming.

For thirty years, Alberta has been bled dry by Eastern Canada. Billions in wealth have been siphoned from our oilfields and farms through equalization and carbon taxes, only to be used as bribes to keep Quebec in Confederation. We are overtaxed, overregulated, and constantly vilified by the very people who rely on us. Alberta has been treated not as a partner in Confederation, but as a colony—a resource to be exploited and a scapegoat to be mocked.

Albertans once believed in Canada. Many still placed their hope in Pierre Poilievre and the Conservative Party of Canada. They believed maybe, just maybe, we had one last shot at turning things around. But that hope is fading fast.

Some partisan diehards still cling to illusions, pointing to Poilievre’s crowd sizes and pretending polls don’t matter. They’re like Toronto Maple Leafs fans—always believing in the team, even when the scoreboard shows a blowout loss. The data is clear: the Liberals are headed for another government. The only real question is whether it will be a majority or a minority. Either way, it will be a final nail in the coffin for Alberta’s place in this country.

And when that day comes—when Ottawa once again rejects Alberta—our people will realize something essential: we stand alone.

In a recent Mainstreet poll, 37% of Albertans expressed support for separation—one of the highest levels ever recorded. But that number doesn’t include the hundreds of thousands still hoping for federal redemption. When that illusion collapses, separatist sentiment will explode. What happened in 2019 will look like a spark compared to the wildfire that’s coming.

The Alberta Prosperity Project, now led by Mitch Sylvestre, already boasts more active members than the United Conservative Party. That movement is growing fast, and when Ottawa slams the door on Alberta once again, it will become the beating heart of a full-scale political realignment. Danielle Smith’s refusal to call a referendum is only adding pressure. When politicians fail to act, the grassroots will rise—and this time, we’re ready.

Tens of thousands of Albertans have already been trained in grassroots activism. When the moment comes, they will not ask permission. They will organize. They will mobilize. And they will deliver one of the most powerful political movements Canada has seen in generations.

And don’t expect the Laurentian elites to understand what’s happening. Carney, Poilievre, and their media allies depend on being loved in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal—cities that will never understand Alberta, and never care to. But their ignorance may be their undoing. Because this time, the West isn’t bluffing.

The case for separation has never been stronger. And with Trump as President, Alberta will have powerful friends south of the border ready to support its right to self-determination—especially when American energy security is on the line.

Canada is not a nation anymore. It is a failing bargain propped up by inertia and denial. And that bargain is breaking.

Alberta will decide its own fate.
